Wildlife Biologist (Airports)

Avisure’s Vision is to be the world’s best practitioners, trainers, advisors and suppliers of equipment for bird and wildlife risk mitigation. As leaders in our field we have consulted to 40 national and international airports over the last 15 years, providing products, processes, research, and expert advice on reducing the occurrence and impact of bird and other wildlife strike. Our business is expanding with our head office on the Gold Coast and branches in Sydney, Adelaide and Rockhampton as well as international projects.

We are looking to expand our specialist team by employing a wildlife biologist with great bird identification skills to assist with our exciting and innovative wildlife management programs at airports. Although based in Adelaide, the position may provide the opportunity to travel to other regions.

Key elements of this position will include:

  • wildlife surveys
  • data analysis & report writing
  • project management
  • airside wildlife dispersal

The position:     Wildlife Biologist (Airports). Part time or full time.                    

Remuneration:  Salary negotiable based on skills, plus 9% superannuation

Location:             Adelaide.

Selection Criteria – essential

  1. Tertiary degree in environment management/wildlife or similar
  2. Excellent bird identification skills
  3. Field experience in bird and wildlife surveys
  4. Experience managing and executing projects
  5. Strong computer literacy with the Microsoft office suite (experience with Microsoft 2007 an advantage)
  6. Manual drivers license

Selection criteria – desirable

  1. Aircraft Radio/Telephone Operators Proficiency (ACROP)
  2. Airport Security Identification Card (ASIC) – requires criminal record checks
  3. Security Licence
  4. Senior First Aid qualification
  5. Firearms license – Categories A and/or B and/or H
  6. Experience/qualifications in animal behavior, and/or dog training, and/or dog handling
